MISSION STATEMENT
In a time of ongoing social and ecological upheaval, the St. Columba’s Council for Ecological Discipleship seeks to address the spiritual roots of our ecological crisis, grounded in the scriptural, theological, and spiritual wisdom of the Christian contemplative tradition. In solidarity with all who are working toward ecological restoration, we offer:
REFUGIO
Opening the doors of our Retreat House where those working on climate action, might find respite in a place of beauty, deep listening, and practices of stillness that allow for renewal and inspiration.
RESILIENCE
Contemplative, educational, and advocacy-based resources to assist in keeping climate advocates informed, connected, supported and encouraged.
RESISTANCE
Supporting peaceful protests and non-violent movements that hold corporations, industries, and governments accountable to climate action.
The earth mourns and withers;
the world languishes and withers; the highest people of the earth languish. The earth lies defiled under its inhabitants; for they have broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore a curse devours the earth, and its inhabitants suffer for their guilt; therefore the inhabitants of the earth are scorched, and few are left.
The wine mourns, the vine languishes, all the merry-hearted sigh. The mirth of the tambourines is stilled, the noise of the jubilant has ceased, the mirth of
the lyre is stilled.
Isaiah 24:4-8
